Pocket Saint - San Rafael - Healing

San Rafael Retablo

"The Shining One Who Heals." For Children Leaving Home and Travel. One of the four Archangels sent to help Humanity. He is an angel of Compassion, Knowledge and Humor

"Glorious Archangel Rafael, Prince of the Heavenly Court, you are illustrious for your wisdom and grace. Your name meaning 'The Shining One Who Heals', you are the source of spiritual and physical well-being. Intercede for me at the Throne of Divine Mercy, spreading your wings around me and all those who suffer, bringing healing and peace in our hour of need."

Retablos are a devotional folk art form from Mexico and the Southwest US. They are small paintings on wood of Catholic saints and angels. To create these affordable heart-felt paintings of saints, angels and blessings, Lynn Garlick hand carves and paints her original designs on the traditionally used ponderosa pine planks. Then she decoupages high quality prints of her originals onto pine boards, in an old school technique used for the Italian altar screens of medieval Europe.
