Garden Talk from the Herb Garden
I am so happy to have a productive herb garden. After years of thinking about it, I finally decided to try it after purchasing a book from the "Thistle Cottage" as my guide. In addition to the herbs I have a couple of tomato plants and a serrano pepper plant. I guess I could rename my garden the "Salsa Garden". -Linda
A Bit about Growing an Herb Garden:
-Perennial herbs grow best surrounded by other perennials.
-Thyme, oregano, rosemary, and sage can be grown together. They are considered Mediterranean herbs and enjoy sunlight and a dry soil.
-Moisture loving herbs are basil, cilantro, parsley, and tarragon. They enjoy sunlight and moist soil.
-Mint is invasive so give it plenty of room to grow or plant in a pot.
-Marigolds are great at repelling insects because of their scent.
